I have covered a town beat as a freelancer for The Day, a regional newspaper in Eastern Connecticut. Below are some recent examples of my writing for The Day.
I have written news briefs, features, and profiles. It has involved developing relationships with key local government officials, business owners, organizations and residents. In addition to stories assigned to me, I initiate and pitch topics to the audience engagement editor and managing editor, research stories using public records, interview sources, gather facts and observations through event coverage, and then write the stories. I also coordinate with story subjects, the staff photographer and videographer for visuals.
